

The Last Golem
“The Last Golem” is a top-down, open-world RPG styled after old-school JRPGs. Following the story of a group of golem siblings waking up from a 1,000 year slumber to protect their village from an invading army, the game features 2D graphics, turn-based combat, skill trees, and more.

Role(s) and Responsibilities:

Level Design:
- Designed and built an open-world environment in-engine (e.g., terrain, location of enemies, treasure, dungeons, NPCs, shops, etc.).
- Designed and whiteboxed the first village encountered in-game.
- Designing dungeons to be added to the game along with unique bosses.
Narrative Design:
- Created dialogue for player characters and NPCs – continuing to add and modify dialogue.
- Created narrative concept and several main story NPCs.

RPG Design:
- Implemented RPG mechanics such as shops, equipment, leveling, skills, etc.
- Implementing further RPG mechanics such as saving, enchantments, crafting, etc.

Combat Design:
- Implemented a turn sequence based on characters’ speed.
- Implemented a mana and skill system.
- Implemented a health and damage calculation system, including critical hits and evasion.
- Implemented animation for attacks.
- Implemented stats, status effects, and passive abilities.
Art Design:
- Created and implemented all pixel art in the game while focusing on maintaining the thematic feel of the game and areas.
- Hired and directed digital artists for non-pixel art (combat character art and animations).
